Booking and Detailing Appointment Questions


  • Do I need an appointment?

    Detailing services are by appointment only. Our retail storefront is open during business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and select Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. ​We prefer appointments for those stopping in for a complimentary consultation or formal quote in order to ensure the right member of our team can dedicate their full attention to you while you are here. If this is not scheduled, you may be asked to return at a later time if we are in the middle of a time-sensitive task.

  • What do I need to do before my scheduled appointment?

    To help us best serve you, it is requested that you empty out your compartments and any cargo area. Any items that we find during the detail we will place in a bag for your convenience. If there are any compartments or areas of the vehicle that you would rather not have detailed, please be sure to let us know! Also, please review our Terms & Conditions with regards to our standard operating procedures as it relates to detailing of critical/private areas of a vehicle.

  • How long does the service take?

    Service time varies based on many factors, including the type of services being delivered, size and condition of the vehicle, weather conditions, and availability of surface specialists and techniques required to achieve desired results. While we can estimate the time of service, we are NOT able to ascertain a final projected time of service for each vehicle until we complete an in-person inspection. In some cases, we may also require testing of various products, tools, and techniques before being able to provide an accurate estimate of time required.

  • When do I drop off/pick up my vehicle?

    Drop off is preferred between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM on the date of your service appointment, but is permitted the business day prior before we close.


    When the service is completed, you will receive an automated notification informing you that your vehicle is ready to pick up. Pick up is preferred before closing that business day, but is permitted the business day after at the start of business.


    NOTE: If you are dropping off or picking up your vehicle outside of your service day, we CANNOT guarantee that the vehicle will be stored inside during business hours when other vehicles are in our shop.

Understanding the Cost of Detailing


  • How much does it cost?

    In order to determine accurate pricing, we must first know the year, make, model, and overall condition of your vehicle to assess your service goals and needs. In some cases, we may need to see the vehicle in person in order to provide an accurate quote.


    As a specialty service provider, we offer 4 unique levels for each auto detailing service on our menu – from standard interior detailing to specialty paint correction and ceramic coating installation. Additionally, we offer special pricing for bundled services and upgraded service levels.


    We utilize a custom naming convention for our service levels which you will see in our service menus:


    1. Economy – Budget friendly, faster turn-around, basic service level most in-line with other service providers.


    2. Business Class – Luxury detailing with time and attention to detail and a heavy focus on preservation and protection.


    3. First Class – Upgraded protection and/or additional advanced skill work to meet your service goals.


    4. Executive – Our top service level with all of the upgrades, best protection options, and true luxury experience.

  • How do I pay and are tips expected?

    We offer several convenient payment options including exact cash (NOTE: We do NOT keep change on hand), check, or credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) at the time of completion of service or via a payable invoice that can be sent via phone or email. We also now offer convenient buy now, pay later options through Afterpay and/or Affirm* (NOTE: Fees will be applicable) for some purchases pending third-party financial approval.

    NOTE: A 25% booking fee is required for all service levels. This can be paid in person with cash, check, credit/debit card, OR with card via a payable invoice sent at the time of formal quote approval.


    Tips are always appreciated, but not expected. We are honored to pay our team a highly competitive and commensurate wage for their labors, which is reflected in the pricing established for services and reflective of the time, skill, and energies required to perform each service level. If gratuities are provided, they are automatically evenly allocated and distributed via payroll reimbursement to all eligible employees who assisted in coordinating and/or providing services for the job in which a tip is provided.

  • Where are you located?

    Our commercial shop is in Okemos, Michigan, less than half mile from the Meridian Mall. We are located in the industrial building BEHIND the shopping plaza that houses Mert’s Specialty Meats, Sherwin-Williams, Jersey Giant, and the Goodwill drop off. 


    ​When you pull into the shopping plaza, you will see black yard signs with our logo and arrows directing you to the back of the building where you will then see our banner.

  • Do you offer same-day services?

    Final Approach Detailing is a specialty service provider that focuses on the quality, preservation, and protection of your automobile. Our unique level of services are in demand and we typically average a 1-to-4 week wait for specialty services and 2-to-6 weeks for standard detailing work (depending on the season). If you are in need of immediate services to address a unique need – we ask you to contact us directly and we will try our best to accommodate this immediate need. If we cannot, we would be happy to suggest an alternative service provider.

  • When is the retail storefront open?

    Our retail storefront is open during business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and select Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM! We encourage you to drop in any time to shop our large selection of detailing chemicals, tools, equipment, and more. You can also now shop online through our virtual storefront!

  • How often should a vehicle be detailed?

    We encourage our clients to think of auto detailing as a maintenance need – just like they would an oil change or tire rotation! Depending on your driving habits, car washing methods, your vehicle's exposure to elements, and the current protection applied to your vehicle, suggested detailing schedules vary. Standard Detailing services typically offer 3-to-6 months of sealant protection. As such, it is recommended to maintain this premier paint and surface protection more often. Advanced protection options offer longer term protection and can be maintained with professional services less frequently. It is suggested to maintain a coated vehicle every 6 months; however, warranties typically require a minimum number of annual services.
