About Us - Final Approach Detailing

Final Approach Detailing was built with a whole lot of passion and dreams, but also a unique desperation to make things work for our family. After 15 years in remission from a long and difficult battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at age 16, Travis Rook was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in the colon with metastasis to the liver and lungs in May of 2017.

A retail manager, MBA grad, pilot, parent and spouse at the time – Travis’ world very abruptly changed with the following chemo treatments, surgeries, comorbidities and more. The further out from diagnosis we got – Travis began experiencing significant changes in his cognitive functions post treatment. In addition to these changes and the numerous appointments, tests, treatments, medication side effects and more, it became apparent at this time that a return to a typical work environment would not be in the cards any time soon.

We knew we needed a unique level of flexibility to meet our family’s needs – and we knew we would get this if we reinvested in building a business as we had done years prior. Jessica had spent the 15 years prior to this building successful businesses and immediately went into strategy mode. In 2018, Travis and Jessica sat down separately and made a list of things they were passionate about, enjoyed doing and could see themselves investing in.

Both Jessica and Travis knew they wanted to incorporate their backgrounds in the aviation and automotive industries – and they were both intimately involved with their personal vehicles and keeping them in great shape – so they decided on automotive detailing. In 2018 the ideas started flowing between treatments. In 2019, they were ready to make things formal and established a business plan, registered their business name, and began developing their strategy. The rest is history!
